Sailing Video: Backyard Boat Repair demonstrates how to fix common boat problems, with everyday tools, in your own backyard or driveway.Back Yard Boat RepairIn the first edition of Back Yard Boat Repair Gary Raisner shows us how to fix a damaged rub rail. The various stages of a fiberglass repair job are shown in an interesting and easily understandable way. Gary begins by removing the damaged areas, he explains the important parts of the job, and shows us how to deal with fiberglass. He takes us through the process of repair all the way to the finished product. Next we replace floorboards. Gary removes the old boards and uses them as a template to manufacturer new ones. Using common tools and simple techniques we can make the improvements all on own without going to boatyard expense. The last section gives us a look at shrink wrapping. This is a process of covering your boat for the winter or storage. It involves covering the boat with that heavy-duty plastic and applying heat so that it shrinks to weather tight cover.
